‘Dinner In March:’ #Pop #Rock #Ballad #Lyrics Inspired By Anna Marie Tendler’s Art


I feel so bad for Ms. Tendler. Because of what happened between me and the late Annie Shapiro in Seoul, I can, in my mind and heart, kind of square the circle of what is going on between she and her ex-husband and his new baby mama. I can see in my mind, in three dimensions what’s going on in this tragedy. Anyway, I’m very inspired by her devastating photography and, hence, here are some lyrics. I don’t know anything about music. From my point of view, this is just a quick hit of creativity that elevates my serotonin. I would also like to note that Prince is an amazing lyricists. I used Nothing Compares 2 U as a guide as to how to write these lyrics and it was TOUGH!

I occasionally get in moods where I need to express myself in verse. I know nothing about music, but I am a reasonably good writer. So, using what little I know about the structure of pop lyrics, here’s a rough sketch of a pandemic-themed pop-song. It’s barely a rough draft. But it makes me feel better to write it. I see this as a Billie Eilish-type jam.

The point of this is it’s supposed to be vague enough that it might be about a couple’s break up on a romantic level. There’s a bit of deflection for poetic effect. I have no idea why write these lyrics. It’s a complete waste of time. I don’t know anything about music and, besides, the entire system is designed to prevent people like me from breaking into it — especially at such an “advanced” age. But this idea came to me and I thought I’d share. Maybe someone, somewhere, can do something with hit. I would, at least, like credit.

Now, again, I have no beats, so I just use existing ones to give me some sense of the mood I’m using. In this case, I’m using Blur’s Tender. So, remember, this is definitely a first draft that barely is even what you might think of as lyrics because I simply don’t know anything about music. I just like writing stories in verse. This is also something my mom used to tell my dad whenever he left her in the mornings, so this has a special sentimental affinity for me.
