‘Greenpoint’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Song

Much like the Selena Gomez song “Bad Liar” uses a watered down hook from The Talking Heads’ Psycho Killer, in my imagination, the beat to this one would be the hook from The Dead Milkmen’s Punk Rock Girl.

you text me out of the blue
tell me what to do
we’re going to meet
in Greenpoint

have a skip in my step
not knowing what to expect
anything can happen when you get a text

to have coffee in Brooklyn
to have coffee in Brooklyn
to have coffee in Brooklyn

got out of my Uber with a grin on my face
it was hot and the cityscape bopped
what could it be you wanted with me
visions of running away to Paris
danced in my head
maybe we would fly to Vegas
to be wed

people seemed to stare
made me nervous that they knew
something I didn’t
we’re all just making our way
to a fateful day
when we’re happy they say

have a skip in my step
not knowing what to expect
anything can happen when you get a text

to have coffee in Brooklyn
to have coffee in Brooklyn
to have coffee in Brooklyn

[bridge]
maybe we’ll start a family
settle down in Slope Park
where it’s always safe after dark
it all started with a lark

opened the door to Budin
out of breath from the runnin
sat down expecting a ring
you took my hand and smiled
baby, it’s not you it’s me

have a skip in my step
not knowing what to expect
anything can happen when you get a text

to have coffee in Brooklyn
to have coffee in Brooklyn
to have coffee in Brooklyn
