‘One Last Time’ — #Lyrics To A Ballad

Since you can do anything with words as a composer, these lyrics could go any different number of directions. But the general story is something based in reality — I was almost hit by a small van in the middle of the night. I just use that as the core of ballad about a man thinking about his life as the bus whizzes towards him and ultimately past him.

one last time
is it too much to ask
one last time
one last time
to get to kiss you back

can’t sleep so I take a walk
here a something headed towards straight me
all I can do is think of you
one last time

one last time
is it too much to ask
one last time
one last time
to get to kiss you back

why does it have to end this way
without you in my arms
your love won’t join me into the void
the smell of your perfume won’t be there
as life expires in a heart beat

one last time
is it too much to ask
one last time
one last time
to get to kiss you back

[bridge]
maybe it’s all a dream
I’m about to wake
there’s nothing at stake
just a little mistake

I feel luck rush past my sin
could it be I’ll get another chance
one last time to make things right
one last time
one last time
one last time
