People Really Hate Spotify

I don’t know about you, but if you had told me 20 years ago that I could listen to all the world’s music for about $10 bucks a month I would have jumped at the chance. But, here were are, in 2025 and all anyone wants to do is complain about Spotify which does just that.

I get it. I understand why. They don’t pay their artists enough for individual streams. That generates a lot of hostility. It’s just amazing to me how personal the hatred of Spotify can be at times.

What artists, at least, want, is what they had in the early 90s during the transition from cassette tapes to CDs — the ability to charge $14+ for one piece of physical music. Those days just aren’t coming back.

We just need to accept that and move on. And enjoy what the bounty that Spotify has brought with it.
