For variety of reasons, but public and private, I have a feeling 2027 is going to suuuuuuck. It’s going to be horrible. The chief issue is a lot of the shittier elements of Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill will kick in, causing a lot of heartache for poor people like me.
Meanwhile, if somehow, miraculously, Democrats don’t blow it and manage to win big in the 2026 midterms, there is always a risk that Trump will fuck with the outcome after the fact or simply not recognize it as legitimate.
And, of course, there’s the possibility that Trump will do something so horrible, so heinous that Democrats will actually get off their asses and impeach him. He won’t be convicted, of course, unless, I don’t know, he commits treason or murders someone live on TV.
Even then, given how corrupt our political system is, it would probably be iffy.
Anyway, there’s little I can do about any of this. I just have to hunker down and prepare.
