‘Caesar’ — #Lyrics To A Rap Song

What I’m trying to do with this one is compare Trump to Julius Caesar. I don’t know how successful I was. I’m at least trying to take a little bit more time on these lyrics. But, of course, I have no beats and don’t know anything about music so the usual problems exist with anything I write. This is more about me feeling like writing a story out in verse than anything else. Take it for what it is.

Caesar

the die is cast
now the Rubicon is crossed
a Republic is now an empire
the tyrant rules the land

darkness has descended on the nation
it’s no lark I’m afraid
disgrace has a name
conflagration is on its way
our democracy is at stake
lust for freedom is in our hearts
when the dust settles will we be free
will the people bring the tyrant to his knees
are we prepared to return us to our good state

freedom isn’t free
hit the streets with me
freedom isn’t free
hit the streets with me

some things never change
tyranny always lurks in the heats of men
be willing to voice your pain
lace up your shoes and exclaim
when liberty is at stake
you’re willing to do what it takes
to break the people free of their chains
return the Republic to its glory
life to how it used to be
nothing will be the same I admit
but don’t you fret we’re going to celebrate
once this time is over
’cause freedom ain’t free

freedom isn’t free
hit the streets with me
freedom isn’t free
hit the streets with me

[bridge]
we can’t turn back
our eyes on our goal
the people just want
a Republic that’s free
people are angry
as they should be
the government isn’t listening

if we don’t do something now
we’l have a king in all but name
that is my refrain I’m afraid
our liberty is at stake
I’m not prepared to give that up
without a fight
without a fight
without a fight

‘Blackout’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Song

I just like writing lyrics. The recent SCOTUS situation gives me something to riff off of.

Blackout
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@sheltbumgarner

the light go out in your mind
leave you not remembering your past
it can catch up with you eventually
the shadows of life have damage
it hides from the light
but in your sin can’t escape a

blackout
you know what you did
blackout
it’s rolling around in your head

the next day people look at you and stare
pointing at you as you walk by
makes you wonder what you did
who’s life did you ruin
all you hope is it will go away
you’ve got plans to make
girls you’ve got to date

blackout
you know what you did
blackout
it’s rolling around in your head

[bridge]
the lights come on
you remember your evil deeds
worry the cops will come after thee
but all you can hope is it will pass
until the next blackout

blackout
you know what you did
blackout
it’s rolling around in your head

‘Presidential Alert’ — #Lyrics To A Slow Sad Ballad

I really like the Radiohead song “How I Made My Millions,” so my vision for this one is something like that. At least, that’s the mood of the music I’m listening to as I write these words.

Presidential Alert

going about my business during the day
don’t think anything is going to change
then my phone begins to wale
telling me the end is neigh
look at it and see a

presidential alert
what does it mean
presidential alert
oh dear me
oh dear me

he’s never going away it seems
we’re stuck with him forever
a thing of nightmares
creeping through the night
ending all our delight
waiting to send a

presidential alert
what does it mean
presidential alert
oh dear me
oh dear me

[bridge]
if it was a real emergency
hearing from him would not help
of that you can bet
and end without him might be
a blessing you could count

presidential alert
what does it mean
presidential alert
oh dear me
oh dear me

‘I Like Beer’ — #Lyrics To A Pop-Rock Song

Sometimes I get into a lyric writing mood even though I write the lyrics very quickly and don’t do any hard work on them like revising. I just get a story in my head that I want to tell and verse, write it, and move on. So, in essence, this is extremely pointless especially since I don’t know anything about music.

I Like Beer
@sheltbumgarner
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner

after a hard day’s work
when it seems nothing is going my way
can’t get laid
the pay’s not helping with the bills
(no way)
I go down to the bar for a spell
leer at the pretty girls near
because

I like beer
I drink beer
let me be clear
I like beer
I like beer

people may say
that it gets in my way
but let me state
without delay
my love of beer is what I hold dear
it helps me get through the day
when all I want to do is complain

what can I say at this point
some people get their enjoyment from a joint
why would you do such a thing
when beer’s there for you at night
cold and tasty, full of delight
this is why

I like beer
I drink beer
let me be clear
I like beer
I like beer

[bridge]
when I’m sober
hungover
it doesn’t matter to me
’cause I had a good time
though I don’t remember
why

I like beer
I drink beer
let me be clear
I like beer
I like beer

‘Beach Week’ — #Lyrics To A Slow Pop-Rock Ballad

Given the seriousness of what Kavanaugh may have done during 1982’s beach week, it seems appropriate to do a slow, melancholy ballad along the lines of No Surprises using the title.

Beach Week
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@shelbumgarner

the week is one for fun
hearts will be broken lies will be spun
girls may leave parties rattled
but they’re the only ones to blame
beach week is for skies and bros

beach week
never looking back
beach week
it will never end
it will never end
it will never end

when time stands still
the end is near
people will stop and gawk
at what we’ve managed to pull off
there’s nothing like it at all
beach week

beach week
never looking back
beach week
it will never end
it will never end
it will never end

[bridge]
beach week was a blast
happened long ago
happened so fast
but what’s the point of talking about it
it’s over now
it was a gas
(at least for me)

beach week
never looking back
beach week
it will never end
it will never end
it will never end

‘Kavanaugh’ — #Lyrics To A 80s Pop Rock Song

Sometimes, it takes a little while for my mind to notice something. In this case, how well Kavanaugh fits with the song Panama by Van Halen. I usually don’t like to do one-for-one remakes of songs and this isn’t really one, more just a matter of playing off the familiarity of Panama.

Kavanaugh
@bumgarl
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner

going to have some skis this weekend
losing all my inhibitions
getting into Yale
bustin my butt
oh yeah

Kavanaugh!
Kavanaugh!
Kavanaugh!

all the girls love a Devil’s Triangle
pulling a train into station
don’t you forget to dangle some law
when at a best friend’s house
beach week will never end
with a dabble of sin

Kavanaugh!
Kavanaugh!
Kavanaugh!

[bridge]
hold her down
turn the radio up
we’re going to boof
whether she likes it or not

there’s nothing she can do
once you’re through with her
lust is it’s own reward
you’re going to be a judge
when you’re this smart and young

Kavanaugh!
Kavanaugh!
Kavanaugh!

‘A Sad Day’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

I’m just sad and feel like writing lyrics to make myself feel better.

A Sad Day
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

the wheels of history are coming off
years and years and years
of stability are at and end
the naked tyrant sits back and laughs
knowing what happens next will be a blast
deals are made and kept
leaving us all feeling wet with rage

today is a sad day
believe me when I say
today is a sad day
believe me when I say
today is a sad day

will it make any difference in the end
now that we all wallow in sin
people are upset and rightly so
but it seems we’re all heading for disaster
don’t you know
when this era ends is anyone’s guess
maybe it will never end, I say with a hiss

today is a sad day
believe me when I say
today is a sad day
believe me when I say
today is a sad day

[bridge]
you have to have hope
you have to believe
one day things will change

today is a sad day
believe me when I say
today is a sad day
believe me when I say
today is a sad day

‘I Believe Her’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

Sometimes I get into a lyric writing mood for no other reason than it’s cathartic and I like to write lyrics to songs I wish existed. So, you get this.

I Believe Her
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

happened long ago
muffled screams don’t you know
thought they would kill her
leave her for dead
these thoughts rattle around inside
inside her head

I believe her
I believe her
I believe her

now there are hearings
a blood sport don’t you know
wow are people learning
the train is leaving station
the boys don’t remember the tears
don’t believe the fears
now the Senate just jeers

I believe her
I believe her
I believe her

[bridge]
maybe one day
things will change
return to how they were
but don’t be surprised
if that’s just a dream

I believe her
I believe her
I believe her
I believe her
I believe her
I believe her

‘NYFW’ — #Lyrics To Pop-Rock-Rap Song About Cardi B Fighting Nicki Minaj

I’m just an ignorant white boy in all of this, but I thought it merited some lyrics. Whatever it was that was going on.

NYFW
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls

who throws a shoe
who throws a fucking shoe

two girls beefin
during New York Fashion Week
they got problems it’s obvious to see
but who am I to complain
they don’t care what we think
got things they got to explicate
but in the end I gotta say

who throws a shoe
who throws a fucking shoe
but I guess what else are you going to do
when you see your rival during
New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week

girls will be girls
when you see a bitch you hate
you gotta throw what you got
to get her attention
but what’s it all about
don’t even know for sure
maybe one day it’ll all come out
I think it will
without a doubt
without a doubt

who throws a shoe
who throws a fucking shoe
but I guess what else are you going to do
when you see your rival during
New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week

[bridge]
when it all comes out
we’ll have a reason to shout
but don’t you have any doubt
we’re all going to rock in the end
no matter who’s to blame

who throws a shoe
who throws a fucking shoe
but I guess what else are you going to do
when you see your rival during
New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week

‘Making Faces’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Rock Ballad Inspired By #PlaidShirtGuy

I just like the phrase “making faces” and it seems like a good title to a pop rock ballad.

Making Faces
Lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

politicians making speeches
the world continues to turn
lovers moan and moan
feeling warm breath of the sun
as they tumble between the sheets
but we all know in the end

we’re just making faces
making faces is what’s going on
we’re just making faces
making faces is what’s going on

we don’t have to worry anymore
Secret Service has us protected
no matter how many faces may be made
in the end we just enjoy the humming economy
knowing we’re going to get laid and get caught
making faces

we’re just making faces
making faces is what’s going on
we’re just making faces
making faces is what’s going on

[bridge]
keep a straight face
if you can
that’s the plan, the plan
don’t let them see you
making faces

we’re just making faces
making faces is what’s going on
we’re just making faces
making faces is what’s going on
