‘Where Are The Babies’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Punk Rock Song

This would be one of those pop punk rock fusion songs that was really fast, but you could hear the lyrics well enough that you could sing along. At least, that’s my vision. But no one listens to me and this is just relaxing.

Where Are The Babies
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls

turn on my TV eat my dinner a
what do I hear but the screams of children torn
from their mother’s breast
what do I have to do to attest my rage
that my country is engaged in this shame

where are the babies
I scream
where are the babies
I want to question the powers that be
where are the babies
where are the babies
where are the babies

those in control are quite droll
tell me we’re on a roll
making America great again
but I hang my head in shame
lulz, nothing matters but
where are the babies

when will I get the answer
will Jeff Sessions stop lying to me
thousands of children are in a void
I’m supposed to ignore their fate
even at this late date

where are the babies
I scream
where are the babies
I want to question the powers that be
where are the babies
where are the babies
where are the babies

[bridge]
when this is all over
we can go back
to talking about the weather
but for now we have to rage
until we get the answer to my question

where are the babies
I scream
where are the babies
I want to question the powers that be
where are the babies
where are the babies
where are the babies

‘Eat In Peace’ — #Lyrics To A Rock Song

I like this one. It’s interesting. But I’m just relaxing writing lyrics. No one listens to me. No one cares.

Eat In Peace
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

babies cry in cages
longing for their papi
while you drink your sake
you’re a monster it’s true
you won’t eat in peace forever

never again will you eat in peace
never again will you eat in peace
never again will you eat in peace

complain all you like
but the people are stirring
you’re going for a ride
no more cake for us

we’re gonna bum rush Trump Tower
if that’s what it takes
to free those kids
there lives are at stake

never again will you eat in peace
never again will you eat in peace
never again will you eat in peace

[bridge]
when the babies are freed
we’ll put you on a leash
parade you around the streets
you create the monsters you keep

be prepared to
never again eat in peace
never again eat in peace
never again eat in peace

‘Cages’ — #Lyrics To A Folk Rock Song

Just screwing around. Enjoy.

Cages
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls

[hook]
babies in cages
what are we going to do
babies in cages
won’t quit till their free

think we’ve forgotten
forgotten so quick
but let me tell you
that’s not going to stick

babies in cages
babies in cages
babies in cages

Uncle Sam’s putting babies in cages
we gotta set’em free
that’s all I know
that’s all I know

[bridge]
don’t talk to me about Obama
that’s not the issue
we’ve got children in cages
gotta free’em soon

[hook]
babies in cages
what are we going to do
babies in cages
won’t quit till their free

babies in cages
babies in cages
babies in cages

‘Postcards To Voters’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Rock Ballad

Just screwing around. In the mood to write lyrics. No one listens to me. This is just relaxing.

Postcards To Voters
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

the world is turning on its axis
we all want to be famous
twirl around and let me see
your claim to fame, baby

postcards to voters
is what we need
postcards to voters
oh say can you see

the nation is on its knees
worried about the state it’s in
leave the debate to the mavens
I say let’s roll

don’t blame me if we’re screwed
I know what to do you fool
walk as quick as can be
once the polls open my friend

postcards to voters
is what we need
postcards to voters
oh say can you see

[bridge]
there’s hope this fall
if we have the gall
to install a new government
to take care of it all

see you at the polls
see you at the polls
see you at the polls
see you at the polls

‘New Model Army’ — #Lyrics To A Rock Ballad

This is just me screwing around. I’m trying to go for a “What if Radiohead went really obviously political” vibe to these lyrics. But I’m just relaxing writing lyrics at this point.

New Model Army
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

the end seems near oh dear
but we can hear the screams
the children pulled away at night
what we need is a

new model army
you heard me right
new model army
is coming to save us alright

when the coast is clear
we’ll know when to yell
there’s nothing but rage
to hold us over it seems

what will you say
when they come to take you away
are you afraid of your fate
the footsteps in the night
telling you of your plight

new model army
you heard me right
new model army
is coming to save us alright

[bridge]
we’ll be free soon
like it was before
if not you’re going to
hear us roar

new model army
you heard me right
new model army
is coming to save us alright

new model army
new model army
new model army
new model army

‘Guatemala’ — #Lyrics To An EDM Pop Song

These lyrics are meant to be kind of deep. I’m well aware that EDM songs often start with a beat first and then get the lyrics, but I don’t have that luxury. I don’t have any beats, but it seems as though given the significance of the ProPublica audio of the little girl who says, when asked, “Guatemala” in such a heartbreaking manner when she’s torn from her family that it merits song lyrics if nothing else. I only pick EDM Pop as the type of beat to go with the lyrics because EDM Pop often uses longer words like “Titanium” or “Chandelier” or “Diamonds” that are drawn out for effect. So, ideally, these lyrics would have a beat similar to an up tempo song that Sia might sing. These lyrics are actually pretty good. Need a composer and a co-writer (and some beats!) but they definitely make the point.

Guatemala
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

torn from your family at the border
big scary people speak a language
you barely understand
your screams are heard around the world
this is America this shouldn’t be happening

[Pre-Chorus]
things are looking rough I will admit
we’re in for a dark, dark time
but when you are given your chance
we’ll hear loud and clear

[Chorus]
where are you from little girl
Guatemla
where are you from little girl
Guatemla

you’ve make a trek with your mom
2,000 miles away from home it’s true
but you simply want a safe place to lay your head
what’s in the mind of the people hurting you

[Pre-Chorus]
things are looking rough I will admit
we’re in for a dark, dark time
but when you are given your chance
we’ll hear loud and clear

[Chorus]
where are you from little girl
Guatemla
where are you from little girl
Guatemla

[bridge]
one day we’ll get you safe
little don’t be afraid
Uncle Sam should be ashamed
but it’ll work out in the end
I swear

[Chorus]
where are you from little girl
Guatemla
where are you from little girl
Guatemla
Guatemla
Guatemla
Guatemla

‘What’s Happening?’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Rap Song

This would feature the audio from the scene in Poltergeist where the young woman jumps out of her car and screams, “What’s happening?????” as its hook. I see this as a Kanye West type pop-rock-rap song.

What’s happening?
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
Sample from the movie “Poltergeist” 1982
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

{sample / hook}
What’s happening????
What’s happening????
What’s happening????

the end seems to be near
every day things are the same
I wake up to chaos in the tweets
people wanting to take to the streets
all I wanna do is get you beneath the sheets
but it’s not be be until we get some peace
call the police to complain
but they tell me if I wanna get laid
I’m going to have to act sane

want you by my side
let me slide across your border
these are dark days indeed
these are dark days indeed
when our POS POTUS prevents a man
from getting laid
{sample / hook}
What’s happening????

just give me what I want
you naked as can bee
letting me see the truth
but you tell me it just ain’t gonna happen
I gotta to prove my love by fighting the power
take the streets you say
“lace up your Adidas until the babies are free
if you want to put a baby in me” is your refrain
we am I gonna do
when are you gonna let me off the hook
let me get to work on that body of yours
I can be expected to wait
until the dictator is defeated

want you by my side
let me slide across your border
these are dark days indeed
these are dark days indeed
when our POS POTUS prevents a man
from getting laid
{sample / hook}
What’s happening????

[bridge]
what’s happening indeed
just want this to end
one day it will I’m sure
but we’ve got a fight ahead of us
the passion of the streets
ain’t anywhere near being complete

{sample / hook}
What’s happening????
What’s happening????
What’s happening????

‘Who Have We Become’ — #Lyrics To A Country Pop Ballad

Just in mood to write lyrics. That’s it. I see this as a Kacey Musgraves’ type country pop ballad.

Who Have We Become
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

watch my TV with dismay
flip the channels every which way
but it seems these times are here to stay

who have we become
who have we become
how did this happen
something has to change
to end this pain
who have we become

we’re all on the run it seems
at least that’s what I can glean
makes me want to sing something sad
not even the diamonds I wear
can ease this despair

who have we become
who have we become
how did this happen
something has to change
to end this pain
who have we become

[bridge]
when this is all done
we can stop being on the run
we’ll have it all again
peace will come to land
at least that’s the plan

but I’m not too hopefull
things seem kind of in doubt
when the end finally comes
I’ll know where I stood
will you?

who have we become
whohave we become
who have we become

‘We’re Better Than This’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

Just in the mood to write lyrics. These are self-evident as to what they’re about.

We’re Better Than This
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

we’re better than this my friend
we have to be I beg and beg
when will it end I struggle to understand
we’re better than this my friend

children alone
torn from their parents
how can this be condoned
but there it is on my tv
to be shown to all
who has the gall

we’re better than this my friend
we have to be I beg and beg
when will it end I struggle to understand
we’re better than this my friend

how did this come to be
children torn from their parents
as they run from danger
just begging to be free
who have we become

we’re better than this my friend
we have to be I beg and beg
when will it end I struggle to understand
we’re better than this my friend

[bridge]
soon this will end
at last that’s my cry
we can’t keep this up
this is not alright
need some respite

we’re better than this my friend
we have to be I beg and beg
when will it end I struggle to understand
we’re better than this my friend

‘I Do Care (Don’t You?)’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

These lyrics are pretty self-evident. They’re about the children torn from their parents at the border by the government and make an allusion to Melania Trump’s “I don’t really care,  do you u?” coat.

I Do Care (Don’t You?)
Lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

I see their faces so far away
feel their cries in my soul
don’t know how this happened
ask the man above what’s the rub
this has to change

I do care
(don’t you?)
I do care
(don’t you?)
I do care
(don’t you?)

how did we get here I exclaim
while we’re fighting over who’s to blame
children wail in pain
we are so much better than this
wish we could end this right away

I do care
(don’t you?)
I do care
(don’t you?)
I do care
(don’t you?)

[bridge]
when this is over
we’ll still be sad
but we’ll be glad
it’s done
the children have been reunited
at last

I do care
(don’t you?)
I do care
(don’t you?)
I do care
(don’t you?)
