‘Melania:’ #Lyrics To A Woke Pop Rock Song

I am very ambivalent about Melania Trump. She kinda got herself into this situation and so I can only be so sympathetic to her plight. But I’m feeling inspired, so here are some lyrics about her to the general beat of Elvis Costello’s “Veronica.” I only listen to the song to get some sort of beat going on in my head. If someone were to actually do something with these lyrics, they might be able to find a different beat. This is just a ham handed first draft.

Melania
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

she’s got the world under her thumb
but she’s not dumb
her man is a con and she knows
she may be complicit in his deeds
yet she tries her best

Melania
hiding behind your hats
Melania
we all know where your mind is at
Melania

so when will the truth come out
when will things burst into the light
are you ever going to leave Don
be the hero we know you can be
when, honey, are you going to flee

Melania
hiding behind your hats
Melania
we all know where your mind is at
Melania

[bridge]
we’re no fools
we know you can stand his drool
but you’ve made your bed
and now you lie within in
crying yourself to sleep

we’re all now wondering how it ends
when are you going to get tired of the sin
the lies and the saddness
but it won’t end any time soon
that wouldn’t make any sense
we sigh

‘Crossfire Hurricane:’ #Lyrics To A Woke Pop-Country Song

In honor of the beautiful and talented Kacey Musgraves, here is my attempt at talking about Trump collusion with the Russians. It’s hopefully garbled enough that someone, somewhere might find it at least interesting. Enjoy.

Crossfire Hurricane
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

you and your plausible bullshit
think you can get away with it
you drink white Russians with abandon
have them visit you in your home
when you’re not alone boning storms

crossfire hurricane
that’s the life you live
crossfire hurricane
when are you going to give it up

they say where there’s smoke there’s fire
you live your life without a care
you’d trash the nation for a buck
but you’re not nearly as tough as you think
when the truth comes out your lies will end

crossfire hurricane
that’s the life you live
crossfire hurricane
when are you going to give it up

[bridge]
when all comes to light
you’re going to serve things out right
the bars will be cold
just like your soul

we’re all just waiting for the day
when this will have passed away
but nothing will change until we fight for it
this storm is only the beginning
we’re begging for some winning

‘Trump Tower:’ #Lyrics To A Woke Pop-Rock-Rap Song

I make no claims to be as good writer as Kanye West or Donald Glover, but I am at least inspired to write lyrics about the dumb shenanigans that took place in Trump Tower. As always, this is just me enjoying writing for fun. This is just a ham-handed first draft. The beat would be fast like West’s “Monster.”

Trump Tower
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

living on the 66th floor
life is such a bore
living on the 66th floor

the Russians are in the tower
looking for weakness in the wall
they have the gall to try to explain it away
say something lame, lame, lame
but we all know that Trump knows
he’s selling the country out without a doubt
the leaks are all about making me want to shout
the people are on their way to claim the 66th floor
with a roar

you’ll be able to hear
all the way on the 66th floor
the roar of the people down below
the roar of the people down below

you’ll look down from your redoubt
wondering what all the fuss is about
why are the people so upset
Trump Tower is the center of the traitorous action
you’re catching flack for the attack on our democracy
but there’s nothing much we can do
rush the door of Trump Tower with a roar
but how far we’re going to get
is anyone’s bet

I wish we could burn FOX News to the ground
America would be better for it
but there’s no doubt it’d spring back up
to spread its lies yet again
I wish there was a simple cure
maybe if we rush the tower

you’ll be able to hear
all the way on the 66th floor
the roar of the people down below
the roar of the people down below

[bridge]
there’s nothing more to say
they tell us to just enjoy the humming economy
sit back and get laid
you’ll enjoy it too

but I beg to disagree
party over country is no way to go
this isn’t Vichy France
I’m tired of the easy questions lobbed
I want to cut this boil with a lance
I hope it doesn’t come to a rush on the door
but if it does

you’ll be able to hear
all the way on the 66th floor
the roar of the people down below
the roar of the people down below

‘Mercenary’: #Lyrics To A Woke Pop-Rock Song

Now, let me again be clear — I only write lyrics because I like telling stories in verse. And rather than writing a poem, I feel like at least attempting to use the structure of song lyrics. Anyway, these lyrics are told from the point of view of a woman who lives in that murky gray area between high-class call girl and someone who just has a lot of sugar daddies. There are some pointed allusions that one might draw some conclusions from. But all of this means nothing. No one cares and I’m just relaxing. As always, this is just a crude first draft. I know nothing about music so take that into consideration. The beat for this would be really fast and pop rock like Womanizer.

Mercenary
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

all the boys see walking down the street
but I only care about those who make ends meet
if you want to make me miss a beat
you’re going to have to do more than beat your meat
I’m the kind of gal who will blow your mind
but you’ve got to have the cash to get this piece of ass

they call me a mercenary
a fucking mercenary
they call me a mercenary
a fucking mercenary

I’ve had all the men I want and more
had a few take the fall for me
just so they can get access to power
but I’m not wilting flower
I didn’t fall for Don the Con
I squeezed him for what he was worth
’cause I’m the one who has all the dirt

they call me a mercenary
a fucking mercenary
they call me a mercenary
a fucking mercenary

[bridge]
we’re all the same
we all feel the same pain
but I’m the one with the fame
want to know more
I can’t explain

don’t call me a victim
I’m far from it
I’m a stunner waiting for my next pray
whomever is willing to pay, pay, pay
is the one who’ll make my day

they call me a mercenary
a fucking mercenary
they call me a mercenary
a fucking mercenary

‘Sunken Place’ — #Lyrics To A Pop-Rap Song

As I recall, Kanye West recently said that slavery was a “choice.” So this would be a really fast pop rap song in the style of Monster.

Sunken Place
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

pulled from our African roots
the blood still oozing centuries later
Kanye now has the audacity to say
that we would have it that way
rather than live in our homeland
free from the terror of the white man

the man from the sunken place
is talking like a madman
a disgrace to his race
telling us all what a fool he is
that slavery is a choice

we all know it isn’t true
but what can you do
what can you do

we all know it isn’t true
but what can you do
what can you do

rather than fight and fight
we need to unite against povery
make the world a better place
if we have any choice in the matter
why not ignore the fool from the sunken place
find a better person to represent us
when we come face to face with our own sunken place

‘Coffee Boy’ — #Lyrics To A Woke Pop-R&B Fusion Song

I write lyrics because it’s relaxing. No one cares about any of these lyrics I write, but I enjoy telling stories in verse. The music for this would be something The Weeknd might use.

Coffee Boy
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

we’re all going down in flames
the administration is run by rubes
the pain is real for the nation on its knees
no matter who you are when you’re gone you’re just

a coffee boy
a coffee boy
believe you me
you too will be
a coffee boy
a coffee boy

when this is all over
and we’re all running for cover
we’ll think back and say
how we wish we’d gotten our way
if only the coffee boy had done it right
maybe we could still live in the light

a coffee boy
a coffee boy
believe you me
you too will be
a coffee boy
a coffee boy

[bridge]
nothing is as it seems
people rush towards me and plead
for some respite from the crushing fright
but we all know it’s gone until daylight

I like my coffee strong
I say with a sigh
this reasoning is weak
we may never get the truth we seek

coffee boy
coffee boy
coffee boy

‘Facts’ — Lyrics To A Woke Folk-Rock Song

These lyrics would be for a song like “Ohio.” I’m just writing these lyrics because doing so is relaxing. That’s all.

Facts
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

Rudy is on the job
telling us what he knows
when will the truth come out
does anybody know
anybody know
so we watch the president say
later in the week

he’ll get his facts straight
he’ll get his facts straight
he’ll get his facts straight

what does the president
have up his sleave
when will he just get up and leave
we’re going to have to deal with him
until the very end I’m afraid
he’s not going anywhere and neither are his lies
but we’re going to hear him say about Rudy

he’ll get his facts straight
he’ll get his facts straight
he’ll get his facts straight

[bridge]
nothing is going to change
I long for the truth to come back
but it’s gone for good
as long as Trump’s in charge

I just want things to go back
back to what they once were
when I could trust the president
not to lie, lie, lie
when

he’ll get his facts straight
he’ll get his facts straight
he’ll get his facts straight

‘Gas Killing Animal’ — #Lyrics To A Punk Song

This is just a first draft. Me screwing around with a punk song lyrics. Just for fun.

Gas Killing Animal
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

Assad is on his way
to kill the children and the moms
Trump thinks he can wag the dog
distract, distract, distrct
with an attack on Assad’s ass
’cause on the Twitter box
Trump calls the shots

gas killing animal
gas killing animal
Putin watch out
for the smart missiles

we’re all afraid World Ward III
is about to explode
won’t know what the future brings
once the final canary sings
just one step away
from the final explosion
is what I sing

gas killing animal
gas killing animal
Putin watch out
for the smart missiles

[bridge]
don’t expect us to last
as long as Trump’s got a need
a need to attack
to fight back, fight back

Mueller’s going to break down the door
of the Oval office I suspect
as he does Trump will release his own gas
knock him right out!

gas killing animal
gas killing animal
Putin watch out
for the smart missiles

‘NO MORE DACA DEAL’ — #Lyrics To A Punk Song

Trump’s rantings about “no more DACA deal” sounds like a punk song to me. So, you get this. This is just for fun. It’s relaxing.

NO MORE DACA DEAL
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

no more DACA deal
no more DACA deal
no more DACA deal

we’re going to build a wall
a big beautiful wall
because we have the gall
to think the brown guy is after our jobs
we don’t care that ladders matter
that planes exist
we just shake our fists and hiss
MAGA is for the stupid and ignorant
that’s why we scream

no more DACA deal
no more DACA deal
no more DACA deal

when the revolution comes
we’ll be on top
we’re going to burn Washington
to the ground, to the ground
keep the black and brown guy down
’cause we’re ignorant as they come
as ignorant as anything under the sun

[bridge]
watch us as we scream and shout
about the things FOX News tell us to think outloud
we’re just rubes and fools
who couldn’t finish school

but our dear leader is in control
we’re going to see how things roll
when he tweets out

no more DACA deal
no more DACA deal
no more DACA deal

‘Do Not Congratulate’ #Lyrics To An Old School Hip-Hop Song

I like the song Bust A Move because it tells a story — or, actually, several stories. So, while I’m listening to that song as I write these lyrics, I’m not trying to re-write that song, but these lyrics are influenced by its beat. If I could find someone to help me co-write this and produce this song that would be pretty cool. But I have very low expectations about such things. I’m just doing this because it’s relaxing.

Do Not Congratulate
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

let me break it down for you

I got elected on a fluke with some Russian help
my staff is a gas full of hotties with no class
I direct my staff to bend to my will now
I’m president and I’m ready to party
on a call with Putin they tell me in big bold letters

do not congratulate
do not congratulate
do not congratulate

I ignore them of course and do just that
I’m the president and I can say what I like
even can tell Mueller to take a hike
and when I do, don’t you know
my staff will write something down
in big bold letters that I’ll ignore

do not congratulate
do not congratulate
do not congratulate

[bridge]
we all have heads on our shoulders
we know the facts of the matter
the Russians help me win the presidency
before this is over I’m going to have to flee

I’m ready to take that flight to the next level
they’re going to call me king or a devil
before this is all over with
if I’m on the level
everyone around me will say with glee

do not congratulate
do not congratulate
do not congratulate
