It Definitely Seems As Though Maybe I’ve Been On To Something With My ‘Hysterical Doom Shit’ About Trump & MAGA

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

I have long be accused by snooty, well respected Twitter liberals — looking at you Mueller, She wrote — of promoting “hysterical doom shit” in regards to Trump and MAGA.

And, yet, shit like the below is not exactly a secret at this point:

It makes you wonder what the practical response on the part of low information voters — the ones who most likely to vote for Trump — should Trump literally go full tyrant. Would anyone care? Or would Trump cram through an American Nazi counter-revolution on the American body politic with little no no resistance?

That specific issue is one I just can’t game out. Not only is the United States a huge population at 335 million people, but Trump still has a lot of slack in the system before he finally, at last, bumps up against American First Principles to the point that things like a General Strike seem viable.

I have my doubts. And, really, the only reason why I think something like a General Strike might happen at some point during Trump’s second term is he is so dumb and so erratic that he is the only person I can think of that might be so political disruptive and destructive that there might be a popular uprising.

But, of course, such an uprising would inevitably prompt a counter-uprising on the part of MAGA.

So, let’s just hope that my hysterical doom shit stays something that resides only in my fevered imagination.

If You Don’t See My ‘Doom Shit’ As Reality, You’re A Fucking Fool

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

Can I cancel “Mueller, She Wrote” on a personal level? There I was, listening to Deep State Radio when I heard someone from the Mueller, She Wrote (podcast? Twitter account?) and I let out a loud groan. I did so because that account blocked me for my “doom shit” some time ago and I feel this was uncalled for. If you don’t think Trump is above the law and we are lurching towards a dark future of autocracy or civil war — YOU ARE A FUCKING FOOL.

It’s just annoying. I’m right and I keep being proven right — and yet I got blocked by an account that a lot of blue check Twitter liberals respect. I don’t want to be unblocked — fuck’em — but that doesn’t stop me from being angry that I was wrongly punished for…being right?

What does “Mueller, She Wrote” expect to happen? Trump be indicted? The system working? Well, I hate to break it to them, but even if that happened, there are a dozen younger, more organized and focused would-be autocrats waiting in the wings to finish the process that Trump began. Again, you’re a fucking fool if you somehow thing magically there will be some sort of reset and there’s anyway that pre-Trump life snaps back into place.

Or best bet is we peacefully slip into autocracy and gradually center-Left people — like the people behind Mueller, She Wrote — will simply leave the country because they can. It will be broke ass fuckers like me who have to figure out how to avoid being unpersoned by ICE or The Patriot Front. And I’ll STILL be blocked by Mueller, She Wrote as all of this is happening.

We need to gird our loins for the massive clusterfuck that we’re rushed towards as a nation. It’s ironic that people who use the rubric “Mueller, She Wrote” would STILL think that somehow, magically, someone is going to save us from fascism. No one is going to save us. We have to save our selves.

And by “save ourselves” I mean, prepare for the possibility of civil war.

If we don’t become an autocracy, the only other option is Blue and Red start to murder each other in cold blood for political reasons. That’s it. In my eyes, I’m not peddling “hysterical” “doom shit,” I’m being something of a pragmatic realist.

We are so totally, completely fucked because white Christian conservatives are unnerved by the rise of what’s going on in Blue Cities and they’re willing to burn our democratic republic to the ground to prevent scary center-Left POC from “canceling them” on a personal basis.

Fuck Mueller, She Wrote. At least I’m seeing things for what they are, not what I “hope” they might be. Ugh.

‘Hysterical Doom Shit:’ Wake Me Up When Congressional Democrats Have The Balls To Invoke ‘Inherent Contempt’

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

Let me indulge myself in some of my usual “hysterical doom shit.” Tonight, a lot of the usual Twitter liberal suspects are all excited that the January 6th Commission has subpoena a clutch of Trump associated who were involved in the January 6th Insurrection.

To me, this is no boom. It’s a lulz.

Steve Bannon, among those who are going to ignore Congress.

History has shown that all the people that Congress has subpoenaed will either ignore it or fight it in the courts. There is only one way they will show up — and even then they will invoke the 5th — and that’s if House Democrats used Congress’ “inherent contempt” powers.

The only way we would get to the “I plead the 5th point” would be if they got fined and stuck in the tiny Capitol brig for a few weeks until they broke. We’re not exactly dealing with people who give a shit about allowing the public find out the truth about their nefarious January 6th plans.

The reason why House Democrats won’t do what they should do, is they know the moment they break the modern seal on the use of inherent contempt, that’s the moment that House Republicans will use it when they inevitable begin to impeach Biden and Harris in January 2023.

Republicans are so radicalized on an institutional level, that they’re just biding their time until they have power again. Once they do — and they inevitable will get power again — that’s it. The end of the Republic. That’s hysterical doom shit, but the only reason why that might not be the case is at first things won’t seem to change much.

Because traditional “personal responsibility” Republicans don’t notice anything has changed, it could be years before they sit up and taken notice that, “Hey, this kind of sucks.”

But by that point, it will be too late — or we’ll have had a civil war, bombed ourselves into the stone age and there will be some sort of massive political “reset” where we get back to the usual non-existential ebb-and-flow of a traditional liberal democracy.

Anyway, the point is — we’re fucked. Get your affairs in the real world. Decide what’s important to you and how much you’re willing to suffer for what you believe in. Bannon isn’t going anywhere and in the end, either we peacefully slip into some form of a “Very American Autocracy” or we have a fucking civil war.

But good luck on getting anyone around Trump to talk unless you’re willing to use inherent contempt.

Holy Shit — We May Be Careening Towards A Very Dark Future Because of Evergrande & The Debt Ceiling

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

I’ve been reluctant to write about all of this because I don’t really know a lot about it, but from what I do know….we all need to sit up and take notice. Two events are beginning to bubble up to the surface — one in China, the other here in the good old USA.

So, from what I understand it there’s a huge fucking company in China called Evergrande that has defaulted on a massive amount of loans. Something like $US800 Million. The fear is, of course, that this will cause a massive shockwave throughout the global economy.

Meanwhile, because of fucking MoscowMitch in the United States, there’s a real possibility that we’re going to fail to raise the debt ceiling and we’re going to default on our own payments. (Or something — I’m kind of fuzzy on the specifics of what exactly would happen.)

But the point is — this could all be the set up for a one-two punch against the global economy, already weakened by COVID19. For once, I’m not going to assume the absolute worst will happen.

I do think, however, that at the moment, at least, Republicans are prepared to crash the global economy to “own the libs.” Such a catastrophe would be a setup for a MAGA landslide in fall 2022 and then, fuck you lib, we’ll win 2024 and finally turn the United States into the autocracy we’ve all assumed it would become.

But, I just don’t know. This is really a very dark scenario. And we all know that nothing bad has ever happened to a country because of a depression. Lulz! I wish we skip the potentially scary part and go straight to where we have Truth & Reconciliation Trials in, say, Mobile, Alabama.

All know is, there is the POTENTAL for a massive, stunning self-induced economic clusterfuck this fall.

Doom & ‘Boom:’ Twitter Liberals & The Violent Radicalization of The Republican Party

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

I’m still smarting from the “Mueller, She Wrote” Twitter account blocking me after accusing me of peddling “doom shit.” It bothers me because I struggle to see how, at this point, how that is the case.

In fact, my counter-argument is, a Twitter account inspired by the foolish early-Trump Era belief that a life-long conservatives Republican was some sort of liberal savior of the Republic needs to do some introspection. Much of the Trump Era was a bunch of high profile Twitter liberals sitting around hoping for, or telling us about a “boom” that was going to wrap this MAGA problem up and we were all in the Final Days of a nightmare.

Me, mid-2025

Guess what!

All of that was naïve bullshit.

Mueller, in the end, did such a bad job by wrapping things up rather abruptly and taking too narrow a view of his mandate, that Trump turned around the day after his testimony to Congress and did something that go him impeached.

So, sadly, we have to put aside any foolish thoughts that a “boom” out of the blue is going to save jack squat, much less us.

We’re going to have to save ourselves. And, what’s worse, not only are radicalized Republicans attacking the basic machinery of elections on a tactical basis, they continue a macro, decades-long push to destroy our liberal democracy via gerrymandering and voter suppression. And, what’s even worse, autocracy is popular!

Republicans on a systemic level, are autocratic, anti-democratic fascists who have so glorified political violence that someone may take them up on all their bullshit and a lot of people will get hurt in a rather dramatic, 9/11-level type situation.

While the most obvious scenario is a lone-wolf blowing something important up like what happened in Oklahoma City, given how radicalized the Republican Party has become, it’s just as possible that whatever happens could be coordinated and happen at more than one location.

And I can tell you would would cause it: Republican rage at what they perceive as Biden’s COVID19 vaccine mandates. Just that added bit of pressure on our political system may be enough to cause something violent and dramatic to happen a lot sooner than one might think.

You would be amazed how many well meaning liberals I’ve spoken to who apparently still believe we’re going to be surprised by some combination of “booms,” rainbows, pixie dust and unicorn farts.

But instead of pinning all our hopes on something that is obviously not going to happen, we need to prepare for the worst. And that worst will be the existential choice of autocracy or civil war. I still don’t know which one we’re going to pick. But no one is going to save us.

The modern day Slave Power of the MAGA New Right is ascendant and if we turn into an autocracy the only question will be how bad it will get and how quickly. If it’s a civil war, well, we’re probably going to bomb ourselves into oblivion.

Just, please ,don’t rest your hopes on “booms.” We just don’t have the political will to do anything about Trump. And, even if we suddenly did, there are a dozen other would-be autocrats waiting to dive to finish the job he started. Things are bleak, really bleak and we’re being lulled into a false sense of security right now because we’re an autocracy without an autocrat.

No booms this time.

Now, there are conservatives who would tell me that I’m being “hysterical” and simply say, “no, it’s not.” But your normal and I’m not. You have a family that loves you and I could walk off the face of the planet and almost no one would care. We’ll see who’s right in the end. What do I get if it turns out I’m not being “hysterical” after all? A prize?

Or a bullet in the back of the head from an ICE agent?

More Of My Usual ‘Hysterical Doom Shit:’ January 6th & The Ultimate Nightmare Scenario

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

Something that we have all taken for granted, living in a liberal democracy, has been if you do something bad on the national stage there are consequences. You resign in disgrace. You don’t run again. You maybe even go to jail.

Pray.

As Congress begins to look into the January 6th Insurrection, however, there is a dark, looming outcome that we have not thought about: nothing.

What if we learn the truth, it’s bad and it’s all a lulz? The indications that this will be the case, at least on a political level, are already there. Republicans have done a 1984-style job on what happened on January 6th to the point that the base is now willfully accepting their lies. So it seems very possible that even if, after much gnashing of teeth on the part of Republicans, we learn that there was direct co-ordination between the Trump White House, Congressional Republicans and the Insurrectionists, absolutely nothing will happen.

People like me will get upset. It will be a huge scandal for 60% of the population, but for that crucial 40% of the country that seems to control everything….it’s a lulz. They just won’t care. The power of negative polarization will be so extreme that the absolute best we can hope for is maybe Democrats continue to cling to power in Congress.

But even that might be a stretch because of the power of gerrymandering and voter suppression. This seems so likely that we have to prepare ourselves for it. Instead of worrying about how Republicans will, on a political basis, get away with such astonishing political crime, we maybe need to start thinking about how we’re going to handle the obvious implications of all of this: we’re going to have a severe, historic political crisis no later than January 2025.

Something so big that everyone will be forced to pick a side, any side, even if they don’t want to. And, what’s more, because of the nature of such a crisis, there will be moments when you may find yourself tested as to the choice you picked. Your life may even be threatened and you’re going to have to decide if your life — and the lives of the people you love –are worth the choice you made, the side you picked.

I’m well aware that this sounds like my usual “hysterical doom shit.” And, honestly, if you’re a normal person with a career and limited abstract thought abilities, I can totally understand why you might think that

Only time will tell which one of us is right.
