Apple Vision Pro As Vibe Shift

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

Hmm. The picture below makes me think that it’s at least possible that the Apple Vision Pro might be popular enough — and fashionable enough — that it will, unto itself, mark a “vibe shift.”

The Apple Vision Pro

It is at least possible that after a few more iterations that people will actually walk around in the real world wearing a Vision Pro without feeling really self-conscious.

Only time will tell.

Squaring The Circle

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

I had a bit of a conundrum on my hands today about how I was going to proceed with the development of the third draft of this novel. I finally figured out what to do — I’m going to start from the very beginning of the second act.

Maybe I’ll write a break out hit novel and it’ll be adapted by Hollywood.

I’m going to go through and read everything and fill in those scenes that I have to fill in. This way, I have some sense of where the act is beginning and don’t have to risk getting waded down in the first act. I won’t waste a month trying to make the first act “just right” before working on the second act.

Anyway, I’m pleased with the plan I’ve come up with. I have to not think too much about the convergence of AI and XR technology that may make all my hard work on this novel….quaint and moot.

I think I have a pretty good chance of at least being able to query this novel before America either turns into an autocracy or has a civil war / revolution.

The Surreal World Of Online Celebrity Gossip

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

The plague of alwaysonitis doesn’t just beset politics — a lot of people are a little too online when it comes to celebrity gossip, too. The way some people talk on Tik-Tok, you would think everyone is gay in Hollywood.

To be clear — most of Hollywood IS gay, but I guess what bothers me is when people make shit up that can easily be checked. Take, for instance, the freakishly tall — and freakishly gorgeous — Elizabeth Debicki. People on Tik-Tok breathlessly tell us Debicki is secretly dating Jessica Chastain.

A very simple search of Google shows that this is highly unlikely — Debicki is dating Kristian Rasmussen.

Anyway. People need to cool it. Or, at least, check things out before you “ship” people. Probably all that is happening is Debicki and Chastain were handsy at The Golden Globes — and Debicki came without her man — so people jumped to conclusions.

Is MAGA’s Personal Fidelity To Trump Transferable?

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

Trump is an old, fat fuck. I don’t wish him any personal ill will, as much as I absolutely hate MAGA as a movement. But we do have to contemplate what happens next once he inevitably shuffles off this mortal coil.

Of course, the first thing that will happen — no matter what — will be his followers will burn cities because they think he’s a god and it’s obvious that the Deep State somehow prevented him from flying directly to leave on his winged unicorn.

Trump and Elise Stefanik

Apparently, Trump is really interested in naming toady Rep. Elise Stefanik as his veep. She just doesn’t seem to have the iron will that would allow her to be an autocrat if Trump was no more.

But what do I know. Trump still has time to pick someone who would be the autocrat he wants to be.

Did We Learn Nothing From Hitler & The German Industrialists?

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

I don’t know what to tell you. It seems as though history is repeating itself when it comes to Trump and major American oligarchs.

I just don’t know. It definitely seems as though American industrialists are cool with Trump becoming a MAGA dictator, given the opportunity. I don’t think Trump will be an expansionist like Hitler, but rather someone who causes the country to implode, like Pol Pot.

But that doesn’t mean Trump won’t be just as destructive — if not more destructive — than Hitler was, just for different reasons. I still believe that Trump could directly and personally be responsible for the death of 1 billion people around the globe before it’s all over with.

Yet, lulz, it definitely seems as though we’re just going to have to go through some things before the mistake we’ve all collectively made.

Could The Inevitable National Regulation of Online Porn By MAGA Return Playboy To Cultural Relevance?

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

A major part of the national MAGA agenda going forward is the regulation of online porn. This is happening all over the place at the state level and it is inevitable that the moment MAGA can do it nationwide, they will.

I’ve written about this before, but I think we need to address the implications of such a move again.

It seems at least POSSIBLE that one side effect of regulating online porn on a national level is, of course, VPNs will become very, very popular. But there is also a tiny chance that print (soft) porn like Playboy might, maybe, kinda come back in a way simply because is a lot more difficult to regulate it as severely as online porn.

Or not. What do I know. It could be that VPNs will be how all the horny people look at their online porn, with no need to bringing back a print magazine like Playboy.

Just an idle daydream.

Deconstructing The Artist ‘So Good’

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

I don’t know what to make of the young woman in Great Britain who goes by “So Good.” Her music is an interesting mixture of pop, punk, dance with some Riot Grrrl mixed in for good measure.

I really like the few songs she’s come out with to date, though some of her lyrics are so on-the-nose that I wonder if they’re meant to be self-parody. But I will give her props for being really, really explicitly political in those lyrics.

But, who knows.

It will be interesting to see what happens with her. She has a lot of potential, yes, but her music has been out for a few months and it has yet to catch on. The moment I heard her music, I was sure she was some huge unknown-to-Americans hit.

Turns out, lulz.

Anyway. I wish her luck. Her music is good.

The Future Of Music Videos

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

The issue about music videos is they only really had the cultural relevance we imagine they had for a few years in the early 80s. A series of cultural and technological factors caused music videos to have a huge impact on the impressionable minds of young GenXers.

And here we are, with MTV not showing any music videos and you have to really search for such videos.

It is possible that there might be a bit of an uptick in the cultural relevance of such music videos between now and when everything is taken over by AI. There are two possible outlets for this to happen — Tik-Tok and Spotify.

Making music videos organic to either platform, would, in a sense replicate the passive nature of MTV music discovery from back in the day. In a sense. Both platforms have the reach necessary — and connection to youth culture — to give the youngins a sense of what it was like to passively discover new music via MTV back in the day.

But it definitely seems like it’s a narrow window of opportunity — AI is coming.

What The Fuck Is Wrong With Ding-Dong Trump’s Fingers?

Well, this is curious.

As best I can tell, it’s not shingles. So maybe he burned himself? And why aren’t we talking about this, whatever it is?

If You Ain’t Got Haters, You Ain’t Poppin

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

I usually make at least one person REALLY MAD randomly and by accident at least once a year. I’m overdue for someone to scream at me in a really personal way, as if they take personal offense to me being a listless daydreamer.

I assume whomever this person is, will be mad at me writing for years about a novel that I’m writing. That seems to be just the type of thing that some rando stranger who is paying attention to my life would get mad about.

And that doesn’t even begin to address what might happen if I magically somehow sell this novel I’m working on and I get even the barest amount of attention. There might be a LOT of people angry about my drunk ramblings. Or, maybe not.

Most of my drunk ramblings are center-Left in nature, so it’s probably going to be some drunk thing I did in Asia that ultimately destroys whatever success I might have because I wrote a novel that is as popular as The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. (That’s a delusional dream at this point.)

And, yet, who knows.

Maybe, just maybe, it will all be a lulz and people will breeze past my colorful life in Asia.
